A busy few weeks with 9’s ambassadors18.12.2019
It has been a busy couple of weeks for three of 9’s brand ambassadors, who have been variously meeting with staff at 9’s Gloucestershire HQ and entertaining a selection of 9’s leading Partners at The Gherkin in London.
Rio Olympics hockey gold medallist, Maddie Hinch was a lunch guest of 9’s marketing team in Gloucestershire during early December. The group were joined by two other staff members, who had won a competition to meet Maddie and ask questions about her sporting career. After a most convivial meal, Maddie was shown around 9’s office and kindly ran two sessions for staff members to quiz her about all aspects of her sporting career.
Maddie’s responses revealed the focus and dedication required to succeed in elite level sport and the dynamics of being an individual specialist in a team sport. It was fascinating to hear Maddie describe her training regime and the full story of the epic shoot our victory over the Netherlands in Rio, revealing that diligent preparation really does pay off.
Before leaving, Maddie posed for numerous photographs with her gold medal and recorded a personal video for the daughter of a staff member, who has Maddie as her sporting inspiration. In return, 9 provided Maddie with a Christmas goodie bag, including some treats for her dog, Willow.
Marketing Director, Mark Saunders, commented, “it is always a pleasure to work with Maddie, she is totally professional and I think her story resonates so well with our own Free to Perform mantra. She is truly inspirational for anyone in business, or sport.” Maddie also thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon and pleasingly reported that Willow was now, one very happy pup.”
Maddie also recently spent the afternoon with us, watching another one of our sporting partnerships, London Irish. Maddie was accompanied by Brendan Creed, English international field hockey player to join us and 9’s hockey playing Partner, Lee Waller. A fantastic game against Toulon, including an array of international players but unfortunately ending in a loss for the Irish. A great afternoon however and the perfect opportunity to share with Maddie and Brendan.
Christmas lunch with the Double Downies
To start the Christmas celebrations off early, we were joined by Olympic gymnasts Becky and Ellie Downie at The Gherkin alongside 9 of our valued Partners for a festive lunch in one of London’s most iconic buildings.
Following their recent incredible achievements at the World Championships in Stuttgart, the remarkable Downies shared their journey with the room – the highs, the lows and of course plans for the upcoming 2020.
Offering an intimate dining experience with an insight into the lives of elite athletes, their determination, drive and appetite to succeed really surpassed the expectations of an ordinary Christmas lunch in London.
The Gherkin provided the perfect London landscape for guests to capture the moment before continuing the night in the city.
Managing Director – Partners, Adam Cathcart, said “It was a fantastic afternoon and it’s always great to spend time with the inspirational and talented Becky and Ellie Downie. During the busy period leading up to the Christmas break it was also perfect for everyone to let their hair down and have a bit of fun with a few of our Partners.”
