9 Group makes charitable donation to The Prince’s Trust

9.05.2019

This month, The Prince’s Trust received a donation of £2,687.82 from 9.

On the 6th December 2018, an O2 data outage affected millions of customers across the UK. Once the situation had been resolved, O2 promised to provide their customers with compensation through a credit, as a goodwill gesture.

9 mirrored this approach and invited their customers and Partners to claim compensation. 9 set up a charity fund for any money that was left unclaimed. Following the cut-off date to make a claim, a total of £2,687.82 was available to donate to a chosen charity. The Prince’s Trust, the youth charity founded by the Prince of Wales, was the obvious choice.

The charity offers help to young people who are in or leaving care, or facing other issues such as homelessness or trouble with the law.  The Prince’s Trust aims to help 56,000 disadvantaged young people in the UK this year, giving them the confidence and skills to turn their lives around. In fact, 77% of young people on Prince’s Trust schemes move into work, training or education.

The work of The Trust is only made possible through partnerships and donations from supporters. 9 Group are a proud Silver Patron of The Prince’s Trust.

Mark Saunders, 9 Group’s Marketing Director commented “Thank you to our customers and Partners for allowing us make such a generous donation on your behalf. Collectively we have helped to make a big difference to this exceptional charity.”

Beth Sutherland, Head of Philanthropy – South of England for The Prince’s Trust, said: “Thanks to our amazing Silver Patron 9 Group, more young people will have the chance to build their confidence, learn new skills or get into work. The Prince’s Trust has been helping young people to live, learn and earn since 1976 and donations like this mean we will be able to help many more in the future.”
