Management Accountant

An exciting, varied and visible role supporting the end to end management accounts processes for two major divisions of 9 Group, encompassing c£40m of annual revenue.

Reporting to the Senior Finance Manager, you will be responsible for providing a robust and visible link between the Finance, Operational and Sales areas of the business, taking a commercial approach to challenge and further the Company’s objectives.

The role will suit a finalist or newly qualified accountant who is looking for a highly varied role that will give exposure to all aspects of the finance processes.

Roles and Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the delivery, control and understanding of the monthly management accounts for the Partner and Retail divisions of the company, in line with Group reporting calendar.
  • To provide detailed analysis and commentary on various elements of the management accounts, identifying risks within the business, with key focus on revenue and cost of sales, with full reconciliation to supplier’s invoices/payments.
  • Responsible for analysing financial data by collecting, monitoring, and creating financial models for decision support to improve financial reporting by analysing results, monitoring variances, identifying trends and recommending actions.
  • Involvement and production of annual budgets, collecting and collating information, in association with department heads.
  • Provide support for improvements on the Finance system and internal processes.
  • Produce monthly balance sheet reconciliations, with appropriate supporting analysis for review with Group.
  • Engagement with management and sales teams to ensure consistent profitability and margin retentions through cost analysis.
  • Quarterly VAT and statutory returns.
  • Acting as a link between the billing team to improve accuracy and timely information being provided to management.
  • Approval of supplier payment Runs.
  • Reconciliation of intercompany accounts.
  • To review and report the monthly and quarterly KPI’s.
  • Continually monitor, maintain, and review data quality and associated processes across systems with liaisons with customer data team, reporting and acting on anomalies and exceptions.
  • Other Ad hoc reporting and tasks as required, supporting the Senior Finance Manager in the day to day running of the Finance team

Qualifications and Experience Required

  • Finalist or Newly Qualified – ACA; ACCA; CIMA or equivalent.
  • 3+ Years management accounting experience.
  • Experience in manipulating data to demonstrate trends and identify issues.
  • Excellent experience prioritising conflicting deadlines – including monthly tasks and month end reports.

Skills Required

  • Excellent Microsoft skills, with Advanced level Excel skills (use of formulas, Vlookup, pivot tables) and Advanced level PowerPoint skills.
  • An ability to solve problems in a logical manner, thereby rectifying issues speedily and efficiently.
  • Strong commercial acumen and communication skills.
  • The ability to export analyse and update data in large volumes, using database led data manipulation and management skills (SQL, MS Access, Excel for example).
  • The ability to work as part of a team with a common goal.
  • Organised with a “can do” attitude.
  • Results driven with the ability to deliver to tight deadlines.
  • Desirable – user of Access Dimensions

Other Information

Full-time Monday – Friday position. 37.5 hours per week. With flexible Home/Office working. Office is in Stonehouse with occasional travel to our Luton Office.
