The latest Apple iPhone is coming soon, so we’re going to give you the lowdown on all of the latest features.

This model comes 5G enabled (and is the first iPhone to do so), with the fastest ever chip in a smartphone. The design is slightly different on the latest model, with sharp edges being reintroduced, giving the phone a ceramic shield that offers four times better ‘drop performance’ – we’ve been waiting for that.

The mini

Phones seem to be getting bigger and bigger, but Apple has created two sizes, which include the ‘mini’ version (5.4” display compared to 6.1”), for those looking for something slightly daintier.

The iPhone 12 mini is Apple’s pride and joy, boasting that it’s the smallest, thinnest and lightest 5G smartphone.

  • 11% thinner
  • 15% smaller
  • 16% lighter

What’s new?

Of course, everything is slightly better, as usual. Better splash and drop resistance, higher screen and camera specs, faster performance and 5G enabled.

Something that is new is the iPhone’s ‘MagSafe’ magnet that allows you to stick accessories to your iPhone. A magnetic Apple branded wallet can be purchased, which can be used to store your cards and is shielded to keep them safe. Not only that, but the iPhone 12 has enabled ‘Turbo’ charging, making wireless charging even quicker.

Going green

Apple has removed chargers and EarPods from the box, which has been rumoured for a while. Instead, in the smaller ‘reduced carbon footprint’ box will be a fast-charging USB-C to Lightening cable, that they say ‘most people need’. This allows for less packaging and less shipments.

They have also switched up their suppliers to ensure that renewable energy is used, eliminating over 2 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually. Apple says these carbon savings are equal to 450,000 fewer cars on the road each year. That’s massive.
